Tartuffe (Remixed) Starring Mark Rylance Announces Cast and Dates at Marylebone Theatre
Oscar and Olivier Award-winning actor Mark Rylance will star in the world premiere of Tartuffe (Remixed) at the Marylebone Theatre this autumn, with performances running from 4 September to 24 October 2026.
Adapted and directed by Darren Raymond, the new production reimagines Molière’s classic comedy through the lens of a contemporary Nigerian-Jamaican family, incorporating spoken word, music and rhyming verse.
Alongside Rylance in the title role, the cast includes Sara Mokonen, Christopher Mbaki, Morenike Onajobi, Usifu Jalloh, Craig Blake, Nakeba Buchanan and Blanche Williams.
Raymond, Artistic Director of Intermission Youth and recipient of Shakespeare’s Globe’s Sam Wanamaker Award in 2025, has developed the production in collaboration with Intermission Ensemble, the charity’s professional performance company. Several cast members are graduates of Intermission Youth.
The production centres on the Afolabi-Williams family, who gather ahead of a wedding celebration. Tensions emerge when Tartuffe, a charismatic religious figure who has gained the trust of the family patriarch, moves into their home, prompting conflicts over loyalty, faith and family relationships.
Tartuffe (Remixed) also reunites Rylance with set and costume designer ULTZ, whose previous collaborations include Jerusalem and Much Ado About Nothing. Lighting design is by Simisola Majekodunmi.
The production is presented by Marylebone Theatre, Patrick Myles and David Luff, Shakespeare Road and Intermission, with co-producers including Alexander “Sandy” Marshall, Anthology Theatre, Glass Half Full, Rupert Gavin, Mallory Factor, Tulchin Bartner Productions and Wild Yak.
Tickets start at £20, with more than 2,250 seats across the run priced at £30 or below. A £20 ticket lottery will also be available for every performance, alongside subsidised tickets allocated through schools, youth groups and community organisations.
Priority booking opened on 30 June, with general sale beginning on 1 July. Press night is scheduled for 10 September at 7pm.

Tartuffe (Remixed) runs at the Marylebone Theatre from 4 September to 24 October 2026. Performances take place Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm.
