“Sock Party” Brings Playful Exploration of Connection to OSO Arts Centre

A new small-scale theatre work, Sock Party, will premiere on 28 May at OSO Arts Centre in Barnes, offering an intimate and imaginative take on adult connection through a blend of drama, clowning and original music.

Created by theatre-makers Marta Fossati and Tom Bass, the 45-minute production follows two strangers who meet at an unconventional, sock-themed party. Marta is bold and open, while Tom struggles with social interaction, yet the pair find an unexpected sense of understanding as their encounter unfolds.

Described as a “playful journey through love and connection”, the piece uses a mix of theatrical forms, including stop motion and physical comedy, to explore how adults navigate friendship, celebration and emotional openness. The production’s visual and stylistic approach leans into colour and humour, while maintaining a reflective undertone.

Sock Party marks the latest collaboration between Fossati and Bass, whose previous work Blip (2025) received critical praise, including five-star reviews highlighting its storytelling and thematic depth. Their continued focus on human relationships and emotional nuance is carried forward in this new project, albeit with a lighter, more whimsical tone.

Designed as a flexible touring production, Sock Party is suited to both traditional theatre programming and contemporary arts festivals. With a compact cast and adaptable format, the piece aims to reach a wide range of audiences in intimate performance settings.

The premiere will take place at 7:30pm on Thursday 28 May.
