“Retrospective” Set for UK Premiere at Barons Court Theatre
A new stage production, Retrospective, written by T.J. Elliott, will make its UK premiere this May at the Barons Court Theatre, following a previously announced run at the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival in New York in 2025.
Described as an existential comedy, the play draws on influences from the philosophical work of Iris Murdoch and the abstract art of Mark Rothko. According to production notes, the narrative centres on a celebrated artist who finds himself in a surreal gallery of empty canvases, where he is confronted with questions surrounding identity, memory, and artistic legacy.
The story follows Rory McGrory, who awakens in this unfamiliar space and encounters his deceased ex-wife, Pippa. As outlined in the synopsis, the setting functions as a form of retrospective of his life, prompting a confrontation with unresolved personal history and the absence of his artistic output.
The production is presented by Knowledge Workings Theatre in collaboration with Mon Sans Productions, and is directed by Liviu Monsted. Both companies position their work around original writing and the development of new theatrical voices.
Casting includes Noah Huntley as Rory McGrory and Sarah Pearcey as Pippa Lefebvre, alongside Jasmine Dorothy Haefner and Benjamin Parsons.
This production marks Elliott’s first presentation of his work in the UK. His earlier career included Off-Broadway writing credits before a return to theatre in recent years with a series of new plays.
Retrospective will run from 14 to 23 May, with performances at 7:30 pm. Tickets are priced at £20, with concessions available.
The Barons Court Theatre, a 52-seat studio venue in West London, is known for its focus on emerging artists and new writing, providing a platform for productions such as this UK premiere.

That’s so exciting that Jasmine has come over from New York to do the production! Wasn’t she here in 2023 at Barons Court as well??
