My English Persian Kitchen Returns to Soho Theatre
My English Persian Kitchen Returns to Soho Theatre and Tours Across the UK and Ireland
Following a successful run last year, My English Persian Kitchen returns to Soho Theatre’s Main House from 30 September to 11 October 2025, before touring to Bristol, Dublin, and Belfast.
Written by Hannah Khalil and inspired by the true story of best-selling cookery author Atoosa Sepehr, the play is directed by Chris White and stars Isabella Nefar, who reprises her original role. The production was originally co-produced by Soho Theatre and Traverse Theatre, and was previously staged to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in London.
Set against the backdrop of forced migration, My English Persian Kitchen explores themes of identity, memory and community. The story follows a woman who finds comfort and purpose through cooking, recreating dishes from her homeland as she navigates a new life. The play features live cooking on stage, with audiences invited to taste the Persian dish Ash-E Reshteh after the performance.
The show will run in London from 30 September to 11 October (with matinees), with press night on 2 October at 7pm. It then tours to:
- Bristol Old Vic: 14–18 October
- Pavilion Theatre, Dublin: 21–22 October
- Lyric Theatre, Belfast: 24–25 October (as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival)
