Cinderella at the Royal Opera House: A Seasonal Ballet Offering

2–9 JANUARY 2025 – Royal Opera House

£34–£169

The Royal Opera House is hosting performances of Cinderella from December 3, 2024, to January 16, 2025. This ballet brings the classic fairy tale to life with choreography by Frederick Ashton and music by Sergey Prokofiev. First performed in 1948, this production is a long-standing component of the Royal Ballet’s repertoire.

The story of Cinderella is a beloved tale of transformation and true love. In this ballet version, Cinderella is a kind-hearted young woman living under the harsh rule of her stepmother and stepsisters. When her fairy godmother appears, Cinderella is transformed into a beautifully dressed princess who attends the royal ball. There, she meets the prince, but must flee at midnight, leaving behind only a glass slipper as a clue to her identity. It’s a magical narrative of hope and redemption, expressed through exquisite dance.

This year’s staging features set design by Tom Pye and costume design by Alexandra Byrne, aimed at enhancing the visual storytelling on stage.
