Following the roaring success of Autism Rocks’ Tribute to Prince in London, the charity has announced a series of Autism Rocks Sessions in September and December. The Autism Rocks Tribute to Prince, attracted more than 6.000 Prince fans who gathered together to honour his musical genius with electric performances by CeeLo Green, Morris Day and The Time, Mark Ronson and Larry Graham & Graham Central Station, raising £101,330 in donations. To kick-start the upcoming Autism Rocks Sessions, Grammy winners Ricky Martin and Nile Rodgers have both been confirmed to perform at the Eventim Apollo on 23rd September and 23rd December respectively. Heart-throb Ricky Martin is the leading Latin Music figure of his generation, beloved by fans worldwide for his instinctive understanding of rhythm, whose passion for performing is only equaled by his passion for giving. Martin is mostly known for his catchy number one hit “Livin’ la Vida Loca” and his show-stopping performance of “The Cup of Life” at the 41st Grammy Awards, often credited with bringing Latin pop to a broader audience.

The pop icon has sold over 60 million albums and continues to perform to sold-out stadium and arena audiences around the world. Currently on his “One World” tour, the Autism Rocks Session at the Hammersmith Apollo in London will be his only gig in the UK. International businessman Sanjay Shah, founder of Autism Rocks said: “We are so pleased that Ricky Martin and Nile Rogers are lending their support to our cause. Artists of their standing can do so much to raise awareness of the condition.” All proceeds from Autism Rocks’ UK events will go to the Autism Research Trust which raises funds to support the Autism Research Center at Cambridge University. The ART supports life-changing projects such as the ‘Talkosaurus’ app, aimed at helping non-verbal children with autism to learn how to speak. Other projects include stem cell neuron testing, a cutting-edge new way of studying the autistic brain and studies of the impact of Oxytocin, also known as “empathy” or “social” hormone, to detect behavioural changes in autistic people.
