“Alida Valli: in her own words” comes to London
On Thursday 18th November special screening at the Garden Cinema of the the award-winning documentary film “Alida” at the presence of director Mimmo Verdesca.
The award-winning documentary film “Alida” / “Alida Valli: In Her Own Words” by Italian director Mimmo Verdesca, selected at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, presented at the Rome Film Fest 2020, at Bifest 2021 and already available in all Italian stores and web-store, in a special home video box (DVD + Book), created and distributed by Cinecittà Luce and curated by the director himself, after the special screenings in Pula, Izola and Umago in Croatia and Beirut, will be presented on November 18th in London at the Garden Cinema as part of the CinemaitaliaUK event, curated by Clara Caleo Green.
The Italian director Mimmo Verdesca tells the story of the legendary star Alida Valli through the unpublished words of her letters and diaries, enriching it with other exclusive materials: photographs, family film in 8mm, new interviews with her sons, relatives, friends and collaborators, and much more archive material. Among the exclusive testimonies there are those of Bernardo Bertolucci, Roberto Benigni, Dario Argento, Vanessa Redgrave, Charlotte Rampling, Margarethe von Trotta and much more. “Alida” was produced by Venicefilm, Kublai Film with Istituto Luce Cinecittà, Fenix Entertainment, Unione degli Istriani, Rai Cinema and MiC.
The documentary film “Alida Valli: In Her Own Words” shows a complete and never before seen portrait of the life of a beautiful young girl from Pula who quickly became one of the most famous and beloved actresses of Italian and international cinema.
