Screen Rebels end the year with a full house and exciting news for 2018
The Halloween edition of the Screen Rebels showcase “Grave Tales” closes the year in style with a unique screenplay / actor showcase performing new screen writing on the stage with London’s hottest emerging acting talent in the West End’s Phoenix Artist Club.
Grave Tales, their fifth showcase of 2017 closed the year on Sunday with lot’s to celebrate.
Hosted by the incredible Ellie Torrez, dressed as legendary Disney villainess, Maleficent, the audiences took a magical journey through three spell binding shows.
The first, written by Lorenzo Fantini: Dickie Dee & The Devil’s Library, a fast paced fantasy mystery featuring the talented cast of Ben Scarles, David Patrick Stucky, Georgina Parren, Danielle Carrington and the mysterious Ezerfox.
With audience appetites wetted and musical numbers from actor / singers, Tania Pais & Veronique Piercy, we travelled into the corporate nightmare of Heroine, a thriller whodunit with a terrific horror twist. Written by Kai Henderson and starring, Rosie Frecker, Iliana Efthymiadi, Alida Pantone, Tania Pais & Daniel Jarvis.
Stand out performances by the Screen Rebels veteran Rosie Frecker (celebrating 3 years with the successful group, right from their very 1st show!) and the fascinating and noteworthy other Screen Rebels Queen: Alida Pantone, who masterfully ( and bitingly) gave life to an unforgettable Sofia Peccati.
Following a short intermission where we could enjoy the ambience of the Phoenix Club, we rejoined the show for the final performance written by guest writer, Dilpreet Kaur Walia and starring Kai Henderson, Michelle Zahner, Veronique Piercy & Harry Boyd (who also amazed the audience opening the performance with a beautifully interpreted Shake, Rattle and Roll by Bill Hayley and Comets).
Literally a sweet comedy about a forgotten Halloween candy, Skeleton 4, who was masterfully embodied by the multi-talented Kai Henderson. With a cast exploding with energy featuring song and dance, this comedy was the perfect end to another successful show.
Screen Rebels’ 3rd Anniversary was celebrated by a full house. Founder and Creative Director Lorenzo Fantini joined Ellie Torrez on stage to make some exciting announcements for the 2018, ending with the “crowning” of Alida Pantone, who officially joined the team as Head of Promotion:
“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved and supported Screen Rebels over the last three years. It’s because of your dedication and talent that we’re here today in London’s West End after completing an amazing run of five showcases in 2017.
This birthday is a celebration of a community that has striven to create a platform to spotlight emerging talent in a crowded and competitive marketplace. We can’t wait to get started on our plans for 2018 and to make it the most exciting one yet!
We (also) want to thank our very own Screen Rebel Queen, Alida Pantone. She has been a central figure in 2017’s showcase series on and off the stage and we’re delighted to announce her appointment to the position, Head of Promotions on the Screen Rebels Team. Alida has so many wonderful ideas and has a gift for bringing people together. We can’t wait to see Alida work her magic and implement her incredible skills in 2018. Congratulations, Alida!” (Lorenzo Fantini – Screen Rebels Founder/Creative Director)
Alida Pantone, who moved from Italy to London only 4 years ago, is already well known in the independent film scene not only as Actress but also as Producer and Founder of several successful projects such as the London Rolling Film Festival and PAL (Pro-Actors London) all driven by a strong sense of generosity and reciprocal support.
“I’m very honoured to be on board of Screen Rebels” says Alida Pantone. “It’s an amazing group, and I love the concept: we have talented writers who are given the opportunity to present to an audience their screenplay and not only see if it works but also attract potential investors, directors and producers willing to take it to the next step.
The entire process is fascinating, but what I love more, being an actress, is that most of the times the writers write these great characters around us. There’s nothing better than being able to come on stage knowing that the writer was somehow inspired by you and believe that you’re the best person to take their “baby” on stage.
And it goes without saying, it’s a wonderful opportunity to to act in London’s prestigious West End with all the promotion it brings”
Screen Rebels Grave Tales was another fabulous night of entertainment; Showcase Director Kai Henderson can be well proud of it.
“I’m immensely proud of our team of writers, actors and creatives that brought Grave Tales to life. Each show keeps getting bigger and better, and we really pulled out all the stops to celebrate our 3rd birthday in spooky style! Our Screen Rebels family continues to go from strength to strength and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in 2018 and beyond.” (Kai Henderson)
