Rosy Carrick’s New Show “Musclebound” Premieres at Camden People’s Theatre, London
Camden People’s Theatre in London is gearing up for the premiere of “Musclebound,” a new one-woman show by award-winning artist Rosy Carrick. Scheduled for February 24th, this show marks the launch of Carrick’s UK tour, following her critically acclaimed theatre debut with “Passionate Machine.”
“Musclebound” delves into the theme of sexual power, juxtaposing Carrick’s public experiences with her private early fantasies influenced by 80s action heroes. This exploration in Carrick’s new show seeks to understand how these childhood fascinations have shaped her perceptions of sexual dynamics and power.
In the show, Carrick, now in her forties and navigating her own sexual identity while advising her teenage daughter on relationships, revisits her past. The narrative promises to present an honest examination of female sexuality, exploring empowerment, fantasy, and the evolution of understanding sexual power across generations.
Directed by Katie Bonna, a Fringe First winner, “Musclebound” is expected to offer a mix of storytelling, reflection, and personal narrative. Carrick, a versatile artist known for her roles as a writer, performer, actor, and translator, brings a rich background in arts and literature to this production. Her previous works, including the translation of works by Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky and hosting poetry stages at major festivals, have been widely recognized.
The show, with a runtime of 65 minutes and no interval, is recommended for audiences aged 14 and above. Tickets for the performance at Camden People’s Theatre are available at £15 for general admission and £10 for concessions.
