River Crossing Productions is back with a new project: Coming Back by Alessio Rupalti
In a few days, River Crossing Productions will premiere its latest short “The Glove” directed by Luisa Pretolani and while the footprints have yet to set on the red carpet, the producers are already at work for their next short “Coming Back” directed by the Italian director Alessio Rupalti.
Awards winner director Alessio Rupalti has recently moved from Rome to London expand his creativity and experience working with international cast and more diverse productions.
Given the sensitive and political issues covered by the film, Alessio is not giving too much away when talking about the storyline. The director said: “It’s a film which covers some of the complex emotional issues Brexit has risen. It has made me think that behind the choices we all make, there are often reasons which are difficult to explain, reasons which might seem irrational…”
“Coming Back” has been written by tv and screenwriter Ivor Baddiel who found the subject matter very interesting and close to his heart. Alessio commented: “I wanted for my idea to be developed by an experienced London-based writer, who is familiar with the multifaceted outcomes that some simple issues might bear. Collaborating with Ivor has been very inspiring.”
Pre-production has started: ESRL Casting agency will complete the casting just before Christmas, costume and set designers are already at work, while the location scout is mapping out the most suitable interiors.
Both the director and the producers aim to start filming in early February 2019. Head of production Luisa Pretolani commented: “I liked Alessio’s idea immediately. We were extremely happy when Ivor Baddiel accepted to write the script. Films have the unique way to represent how significant some moments are for our society, but most importantly cinema is an art when evokes emotions in people and allows the possibility for the “unexpected” to take form before our eyes.”
