“Fresh Mountain Air” Makes Its UK Premiere at Drayton Arms Theatre

14 – 18 January 2025 – Drayton Arms Theatre, London

This January, the Drayton Arms Theatre is set to host the UK premiere of “Fresh Mountain Air,” a gripping and timely play written by acclaimed international playwright Michael Eichler. Directed by Penny Gkritzapi, this female three-hander delves into the complexities of US politics and the state of the nation through an intense narrative set in a secluded cabin.

The story unfolds with three young American women who meet for the first time in a secluded cabin after joining a hiking organization. After returning from their first hike, they discover the innkeeper and their rental cars gone. As night falls without any internet or phone service, they receive news of a nearby prison break via radio. Isolated and anxious, they find a gun in the cabin and must decide their next steps, facing threats both external and internal.

Starring Julia Thurston, Olivia Cordell, and Juliana Galassi, “Fresh Mountain Air” explores themes of violence, racism, and survival with gripping tension and emotional depth. The setting—a remote cabin—adds to the play’s suspense, making it a thrilling exploration of fear and trust among strangers.

Michael Eichler’s writing, known for its engagement with issues faced by working-class families, brings authenticity and urgency to the play. Director Penny Gkritzapi, recognized for her dynamic directing style, promises to bring a fresh and poignant interpretation to Eichler’s script.

Performances are scheduled from the 14th to the 18th of January, each evening at 7:30pm at the Drayton Arms Theatre. Conveniently located near Gloucester Road or South Kensington stations, the theatre is an ideal venue for this thought-provoking production.

Tickets are priced at £16 standard and £12 concession, offering accessibility for a broad audience. For more information on the show and to book tickets, visit the Drayton Arms Theatre’s official page.
